Journey time (GPS)
What is a journey time survey?
A journey time survey is a visual record of a journey showing delays, stop times, queuing times (in hh/mm/ss) and vehicle speed.
It is mainly used by the transport industry to support transport planning and design considerations.
Equipment
Our GPS journey time surveys give the client a visual of the journey in the form of a video. The journey is tracked by GPS, which enables the software to produce a street map of the entire survey to view alongside the video footage.
Journey time surveys can be used for:
- Bus route planning
- Transport planning
- Train signal monitoring

Emissions
The UK has committed to cutting carbon emissions in the UK by 35% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. Traffic Watch can help local authorities to achieve this by regularly monitoring vehicles entering and exiting their boroughs. This can be carried out using ANPR surveys on an annual or biannual basis. Regular monitoring will provide critical information, helping councils to meet their 2020 emissions targets.
